Dr Matt Glenn has been appointed as the inaugural CEO at the new Kiwifruit Breeding Centre
Quayside Holdings wishes Matt well, as he takes up this expansive new role at the Kiwifruit Breeding Centre (KBC), from 4th October 2021.
In his short time with us as COO, Matt has been focused primarily on Quayside’s modern 250-hectare industrial park development, The Rangiuru Business Park, creating a strong programme of engagement with partners as we move into the construction phase. Earthworks are due to start mid-September, with the land being blessed over the coming weeks prior to commencement of earthworks.
While Matt has only been with Quayside for a short time, this CEO opportunity at the Kiwifruit Breeding Centre (a joint venture between Zespri and Plant and Food Research), is an exceptional role in the Bay of Plenty. With a PhD in plant molecular biology, we are pleased to see Matt’s expertise serve one of New Zealand’s most important horticultural industries.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time and strongly believe in Quayside’s strategy to deliver an intergenerational benefit for the Bay of Plenty, holding a diversified portfolio valued over $3 billion which is a fantastic achievement”, says Matt.
Quayside’s CEO, Scott Hamilton, says that the opportunity that presented itself to Matt was a unique one. “While we are sorry to see Matt go, his new challenge allows him to utilise his significant technical and leadership abilities in a way that not only benefits the Bay of Plenty, but also New Zealand. We will work with him over the next four weeks to ensure a smooth transition. No doubt our paths will cross in the near future.”
Matt says “The Quayside team have been great to work with; the business is in great hands and I wish them all the best in the future”.
