Meet Hayley – another part of our wonderful Finance team and resident cat lover!

Business, People

Hayley juggles full time study with her work within our Finance team at Quayside.   She is in her last year of her Bachelor of Applied Management (Accounting) Degree which is a long way from her plan of becoming a nurse at school.    After a four-year stint early in her career working in a bakery, getting up in the middle of the night to get the dough rising for the morning rush, Hayley found numbers way more to her liking, and has been with the Quayside team on a part time basis since 2021.

Over the last year Hayley has been on a journey of discovery around her roots.   Her father has whakapapa back to Te Atiawa in Taranaki and she is learning more about this heritage and what that means to her in her own right.   With the cultural initiatives and learning that Quayside offers, Hayley is getting both a personal and big world picture of te ao Māori – something she is inspired to continue.

Hayley is our resident animal lover – she is mum to Toby the cat and has been known to rescue the lost and homeless four-legged creatures from the streets. The office dogs that visit all know Hayley is the go-to for a scratch and belly rub.

She has a goal to get her Chartered Accounting qualification in 2024 along with purchasing a home with her partner.   Saving hard to get into the property market, Hayley is excited at the prospect of having a place of their own to create a big garden to grow vegetables and fruit as well as broaden her horizons with some travel somewhere in their future.

What we love about Hayley is her happy demeanour – she is always happy to be doing the mahi and loves nothing more than the weekly lunch out with some of the team to chew the fat and signal the end another busy week.    What she enjoys about Quayside is that we care about our people, we show empathy and understanding to our kaimahi and encourage them to think about their overall wellbeing.

We are proud of our values and pleased that they make gems like Hayley want to be a part of our team.   Like proud parents, we look forward to walking alongside our cat-loving accountant as she takes on her future education and investment goals.
