Join us as our Chief Investment Officer and lead an experienced investment team focused on sustainable growth and prosperity for the Bay of Plenty region.
Based in Tauranga, Quayside Holdings manages a diversified investment fund to generate long term returns for the Bay of Plenty region. Quayside controls $2.8 billion of shares, private equity and property/development assets, including shares in the Port of Tauranga. We are a Council-Controlled Organisation, owned by Bay of Plenty Regional Council (BOPRC). BOPRC are entering consultation with the public on a possible sell down of the Port shares.
As the Chief Investment Officer, you will play a pivotal role in driving our investment strategy and portfolio allocation. You will oversee all aspects of our investment strategy, ensuring alignment with shareholder objectives. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of Quayside and contribute to its continued success.
Critical responsibilities:
- Lead the investment team, with a strong values-based approach, supporting growth in capabilities and exceptional talent. Be an active member of the Senior Leadership Team.
- Develop and implement comprehensive investment strategies in alignment with our Statement of Investment Policy and Objectives (SIPO) and risk appetite.
- Lead the evaluation and selection of investment opportunities across various asset classes, including equities, fixed income, real estate and alternative investments.
- Ensure strong asset management, with comprehensive reporting, and ensure thorough due diligence and risk assessment to optimise portfolio performance and minimise risk.
- Undertake Directorships on Quayside subsidiaries as appropriate to skill set.
- Maintain and enhance effective relationships externally, to foster strategic alliances and leverage investment opportunities.
- Provide regular reports and presentations to senior management and governing bodies on investment performance, strategy updates, and market outlook.
- Stay abreast of industry best practices, regulatory developments, and emerging trends to continuously enhance investment processes and practices.
Key capabilities:
- 10 plus years demonstrable senior-level investment markets experience with proven knowledge of securities legislation
- Bachelors degree or higher in relevant discipline
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiating and influencing skills
- Strong emotional intelligence
- Experience in leading a team with a collaborative mindset
- Sound understanding of risk management principles and regulatory compliance requirements
- Cultural intelligence highly desirable
- Governance experience is highly desirable
