Quayside is thrilled to have welcomed Davide Caloni, our Finance Manager, to our team back in April 2021. Davide (pronounced Da-vi-day) brings with him a raft of experience in accounting, audit and investment with an international Italian flavour – he also gives us a fine excuse to talk coffee and food in the office – two of our favourite things!
Having grown up in Milan in a close-knit family, completing a BSC and Masters in Markets & Corporate Strategy, Davide has held Audit roles in PwC Italy, before moving to KPMG Luxembourg, and then taking a role at Hines Investment Management in April 2016 (a real estate investment company with $83.6B worth of assets). As a Fund Controller, Davide was involved in all aspects of financial reporting ranging from day-to-day operations, acquisitions, capital raising and client relationship management, with a healthy dose of travel thrown in.
Davide moved to NZ in December 2020 with his Kiwi wife and baby daughter, enjoying a spot of quarantine in Auckland prior to moving to the Bay of Plenty.
The Bay of Plenty provides the perfect backdrop to the lifestyle Davide and his family like to lead – an outdoor active life on the coast, even if he misses swishing down the Alps’ ski fields. Davide will give almost any sport a go and can’t wait for the borders to re-open to be able to travel back to Italy, with Nepal and South America high up on the bucket list.
On living in the Bay of Plenty as opposed to the hustle and bustle of Milan or Luxembourg, Davide says that “people in the Bay of Plenty seem more motivated towards a balanced life with well-being and family at the core, which aligns strongly with my values. Quayside is a strong believer in this philosophy too, which makes us a good fit”.
While Davide already speaks two languages fluently as well as conversational Spanish, he is embracing his journey in Te Reo with equal vigour, being a keen participant in Quayside’s cultural workshops.
Davide’s expertise and approachable style has quickly made him a mainstay at Quayside … and he can always be relied upon for a kōrero about all things coffee, pizza, or soccer! Ciao!
