MEDIA RELEASE

Quayside Holdings Limited (Quayside) is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Allen as Independent Director to the Board of Quayside Holdings Limited and to the boards of its subsidiaries, Quayside Properties Limited and Quayside Securities Limited, for a three-year term, effective from 1 September 2026.

Michael’s banking and financial sector credentials span more than 20 years in corporate advisory and senior management roles and governance of NZX listed companies. He spent six years with Westpac Banking Corporation, ultimately leading its New Zealand Institutional Bank. Prior to this, he held a range of senior roles with Southpac Corporation, including Head of Mergers and Acquisitions.

Michael’s six years as Deputy Chair of Watercare provides strong Council-Controlled Organisation (CCO) governance experience relevant to Quayside, including oversight of health and safety, audit, stakeholder accountability, and balancing commercial performance with public ownership objectives.

Michael brings extensive experience in the Māori business sector, anchored by 12 years as an Independent Director of Tainui Group Holdings, the commercial investment arm of Waikato-Tainui, where he contributed to major investment, property development and infrastructure initiatives, including the establishment of the Ruakura Logistics Hub, while serving on the Investment, Audit and Remuneration Committees. He has also served as a Director and iwi representative of GoBus, a co-investment partnership between Waikato-Tainui and Ngāi Tahu, giving him a strong understanding of iwi governance, stakeholder engagement and the balance between commercial performance and intergenerational outcomes.

This combination of deep banking expertise and significant iwi, CCO and NZX governance experience has equipped him with strong commercial, investment and stakeholder management capabilities.

Quayside Chief Executive Officer Lyndon Settle said, “Having had the opportunity to work alongside Mike during his time on the Board of Tainui Group Holdings, I know the depth of experience, sound judgement and thoughtful leadership he brings to complex organisations. He is widely respected for his ability to balance strong commercial outcomes with long-term stewardship responsibilities, and brings significant mana through the relationships and reputation he has built over many years. We are privileged to have someone of Mike’s calibre joining the Quayside Board.”

The Board of Quayside Holdings warmly welcomes Michael, acknowledging his extensive experience and skills that complement the work Quayside undertakes as an intergenerational investor for the Bay of Plenty community.
