Greer embodies a blend of passion and resilience, with a keen legal mind. Born and raised in Tauranga, she and her family are deeply woven into the local community fabric, with her parents proudly owning one of the city’s first cycle shops — a beloved landmark for many residents.
Growing up in a sporting family, it’s no surprise that Greer has dedicated much of her young adult life to physical pursuits. She played hockey throughout her school years and at university, later returning to the Mount and Rotorua to continue playing. Reflecting on her journey, Greer finds the most fulfilment in coaching younger players, fostering their growth in a nurturing environment during their formative years. This same warmth and dedication shine through when she speaks about her family.
Academically, Greer holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Commerce from Otago University. After five years in the South, she returned to her roots, immersing herself in the complexities of local government at the Western Bay of Plenty District Council. Throughout her tenure, she has made significant contributions across various functions, starting with the Infrastructure team, where she dealt with the acquisition and disposal of assets and Council interests land holdings. Greer has also led initiatives in regulatory compliance, focusing on areas such as food safety, animal control, and district planning. Most recently, she served as Governance Manager, overseeing the relationship between the organisation and elected members, with a keen eye on legal compliance.
Greer joins the Quayside Corporate team, as inhouse Legal Counsel, supporting the wider business in a legal, compliance and regulatory capacity.
With a sharp sense of humour, enjoyment of good food, and a deep sense of community, we are sure Greer will fit in nicely with the Quayside team and organisational values.
